Make sure the bulb or LED is actually functional—sometimes these components arrive defective. If you are using an LED, confirm that it is connected the right way around, as LEDs only work in one direction (the longer leg connects to positive).
For a neater, more permanent project, consider mounting your components on a wooden board or cardboard base using hot glue or small brackets. This makes your project look more professional and prevents wires from accidentally disconnecting. Label each component clearly on your board, and include a hand-written or printed explanation of how the circuit works. A simple circuit project is not just about making a light turn on—it is an opportunity to demonstrate that you understand how electricity flows and how switches control that flow.
Safety is important even with low-voltage circuits. Never connect your circuit directly to mains electricity. Keep batteries and wires away from water or damp conditions.
