According to new data from Fintech News Africa, Tanzania's digital credit sector expanded substantially in 2025. The value of digital credit reached TZS 5,577.73 billion, representing a 32.29% year-on-year increase, with 336.52 million transactions processed during the period.

The growth was even more dramatic on the savings side. Digital savings volumes nearly tripled, climbing 263% to TZS 3,181.24 billion. This surge reflects a fundamental shift in how ordinary Tanzanians are engaging with financial services through mobile-first platforms.

Homegrown, pure-play fintech ventures are driving much of this expansion, dominating Tanzania's fintech ecosystem and reshaping traditional patterns of saving, borrowing and transacting across the country.
