The FAA's Advanced Air Mobility and Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) Integration Pilot Program, known as eIPP, has started test flights in Texas. The program is moving forward to evaluate the feasibility of electric and hybrid-electric aircraft, as well as autonomous flight capabilities.
The pilot program is operating ahead of final regulations for this new aircraft category. Eight states were selected to participate in the FAA's initiative to develop rules and procedures for electric air mobility technology.
