Assign roles and responsibilities explicitly. Designate a project manager or coordinator to track progress and deadlines, a technical lead (or leads for different subsystems), and someone to manage documentation. Make sure every team member knows what they own and by when. Written task lists, whether on paper or shared digitally, prevent misunderstandings about who is doing what. Update these lists regularly as the project evolves, and celebrate when milestones are reached.
Communication is your first defense against conflict and failure. Schedule regular meetings—weekly is often good—and stick to them. Use these meetings to review progress, identify blockers, and adjust the plan if needed. Between meetings, use a shared platform (email, messaging apps, or shared documents) to keep everyone informed. If someone is struggling, speak up early rather than hoping they'll catch up. Plan for integration and testing before you start building. Agree on interfaces between different parts of the project, use version control if coding is involved, and allocate time at the end to put everything together and test the whole system.
